This book brings together four series of photographs taken by Max de Esteban under the title of Propositions. They are independent works, yet they are bound to each other in a sequence that reveals the variety of subjects, positions and formats that the photographer has developed. Each propositionis preceded by an essay which shifts the meaning of the pictures towards new theoretical and historiographic perspectives. Félix de Azúa, Rafael Argullol, Laura González Flores and Valentín Roma provide a specific analysis of the challenges, locations and frames of mind adopted by the artist, and these texts are joined by the writings of Max deEsteban himself which proffer ideas, thoughts and aphorisms which encourage us to immerse our selves in their complexity and their striking delicacy.
