Terré is an artist who freed himself from the fashions of his times.
Ricard Terré revolutionized documentary photography with the singular way in which he got close to his subjects while always being respectful of the reality and trying to interfere as little as possible. Born in 1928, Terré is an artist who freed himself from the fashions of his times, and his work, precise and unsettling, ranges from the popular celebrations and liturgies of Spain to images of childhood and of abandoned religious emblems.
Catalan by birth, he settled down in Vigo, in 1959, and from there he made the solitary trips during he took his photos. He always argued that his interests were not profesional in order to reclaim his independence and freedom from the other styles and external pressures. He won the PHotoEspaña Bartolomé Ros Award in 2008.
The work of Ricard Terré comprises the fourth volume of the collection Obras Maestras (Masterpieces).
