Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) has carried out a diverse activity within the world of photography, as a creator, teacher, critic, curator and historian. He has taught at universities in Spain, France, United Kingdom and the US. He is a frequent collaborator in specialized magazines and publications and his work has been recognized with important awards such as the Spanish National Photography Award (1989) and the National Essay Award (2011), as well as becoming the first Spanish photographer to win the prestigious Hasselblad Award, in 2013.
