The 19th edition of PHotoEspaña is being held from the 1st of June to the 28th of August 2016. This time, the International Photography and Visual Arts Festival is offering an overview of the medium of photography on the European continent, after its previous examinations of Spanish and Latin American photography. The artistic programme will present exhibitions which strive to analyse the very concept of Europe: what it is, what it has been and how the continent is taking shape in social, geographical, political, economic and creative terms. The exhibitions include monographs featuring Bernard Plossu and the Spanish artist Linarejos Moreno. It also features the collective show Transiciones (Transitions), which addresses social tensions in the decade between 1979 and 1989 by artists such as Chris Killip, Jean Marc Bustamante, Candida Höfer and Boris Mikhailov, among others, while the collective show entitled Migraciones (Migrations) reflects on migratory movements through the works from the collection of the Musée Nicéphore Niépce, along with works by contemporary artists such as Peter Knapp, Mathieu Pernot, Antoine d’Agata and John Batho.
